About Us

At Oakridge Riding Academy, our aim is to place you on the perfect horse to develop your skills as a rider, enrich your life with the vibrant culture of equestrianism, and grow our horses to be well-rounded and capable of high-level competition.

We were founded by Isabelle Abderholden in 2019 at AMB Stables in Larsen WI. It began as a simple mission to share the love and passion for horses, and grew into a community-based center for lessons, events, and horse companionship.

Today, we pride ourselves in bringing out the best in both our riders and horses, fostering a fun and educational environment for the youth and adults of our community to grow their skills and knowledge in the equine world.

Isabelle's bachelor's degree in business management from UW Oshkosh, and 10+ years of experience working with various equine disciplines and breeds gives the Academy a strong foundation and a professional atmosphere of growth. She has successfully bought, trained, and resold several horses with very successful show records and pedigrees, and has also rescued several horses for the purpose of training and integrating into her programs.

Come by for a lesson, stay for a cup of coffee. You'll fall in love with the culture and make some friends along the way.

Sophie Peerenboom - Instructor

Sophie Peerenboom was born and raised in the horse community, specifically the American Saddlebred and has worked in several disciplines over the years. Her primary interests include beginner / intermediate lessons, and educating the new members of the horse community to our beloved Saddlebred and Morgan horses. Growing up around this spirited breed really set the tone for her and founded a passion for the saddleseat discipline. The goal Sophie sets for each and everyone of her students is to exceed the riders goals and expectations as well as push the limit to maximize their growth. Sophie has worked for Oakridge Riding Academy for over 3 years with many more years to come. She owns an American Saddlebred named “Swavey” or Costello who has since retired and is her trail horse. If you see Sophie at the barn or at a show, please feel free to stop and chat since this is another one of her favorite things to do!
